West - The Kingsway (The Kingsway South)

The Kingsway (Kingsway South) is the premier neighbourhood in Toronto's west end, nestled in the idyllic forest setting of the Humber River Valley. This well-planned community was designed for families.

  • The houses and properties are a good size, the streets are pedestrian friendly, and the schools, shopping, churches, and recreation are all within walking distance.
  • The Kingsway streets are lined with stately oak and maple trees that provide the perfect backdrop for the stately homes that grace this neighbourhood.
  • A few lucky residents have a beautiful, protected view of the Humber River from their kitchen windows!
The Kingsway is rated as one of best settings in Toronto. When it was first developed in the late 1920s, founder Robert Smith dubbed it, "a little bit of England far from England". He wanted to create an English style garden suburb, with each home designed by gifted architects, landscapers and craftsmen, and set in a suburban garden.
There are many green spaces in the neighbourhood:
  • Including Central Park off Islington, and a true west end gem, the formal James Gardens.
  • There are also 3 top notch golf clubs, lawn bowling clubs, 3 libraries, several community centres, and various parks including Etienne Brule that offer excellent walking and bike tails along the Humber.
The Kingsway real estate has plenty to offer:
  • Restaurants and shops along Bloor Street West
  • the recreational activities at Memorial Pool and Health Club.
  • The Humber River and Parkland is a beautiful place to spend the afternoon with tennis courts, bike paths, and plenty of areas to picnic and fish.
The Kingsway is known for its beautiful Christmas light displays during the holidays. The annual Taste of the Kingsway street festival is held on the second weekend of September and includes great food vendors, games, and rides for families and students to enjoy.
Real Estate
In this neighbourhood, you will find mostly large family homes on spacious lots, as well as some smaller, more affordable homes further North towards Dundas. There are some low-rise luxury condo buildings along Bloor. One of the great things about the Kingsway real estate is its urban convenience. It is right on the Bloor subway line and a short drive to major highways, the airport, and Toronto’s financial and theatre districts.
